AMC movie goers can now pre-order popcorn through Atom

Mobile movie ticketing platform Atom Tickets is to offer cinema goers at AMC Theatres the chance to skip queues by pre-ordering their snacks and drinks.

The service will be available to users visiting 28 AMC locations across the US.

Atom says it is “revolutionising the film and ticketing industry” through its social-driven app, which allows friends to attend the same show together while booking separately. Its concessions option allows patrons to purchase goods “with just a few taps”, and then collect them without the need to queue.

“We’re thrilled to expand our partnership with AMC and offer the full Atom Tickets experience to their moviegoers,” said Matthew Bakal, executive chairman and co-founder of Atom Tickets. “In addition to buying tickets and inviting friends through the app, AMC guests will have the ability to pre-order their favourite snacks and refreshments and have them ready upon arrival.”

Atom said earlier this year that it is pursuing an “aggressive regional roll-out across the US” after agreeing partnerships with the likes of AMC and Regal Cinemas.

“Through the AMC app, we’ve had great success offering our guests the convenience ordering their food and drinks ahead of arriving at the movie, and we’re excited that our guests can now enjoy the full Atom Tickets mobile experience by incorporating the option to pre-order,” said John McDonald, executive vice president (US operations) at AMC, which has 387 locations and 5,426 screens located primarily in the US.
