Entertainment and ticketing platform BookMyShow has announced that 17-time Grammy Award winner Sting is to headline the second edition of Lollapalooza India.

The music festival is set to return to Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Race Course from January 27-28 and is also due to feature the likes of the Keane, the Jonas Brothers, Halsey, and OneRepublic among a list more than 40 artists.

General admission tickets are available for ₹10,999 (£106/€121/$132) onwards, while children under five can enter for free.

Lollapalooza India has claimed to be the most diverse music festival in India due to the wide range of genres on display at the 50-acre site.

A total of four stages will host the acts producing more than 20 hours of live music. In addition to the rock and pop stars, world music features heavily with Anoushka Shankar providing a blend of Indian folk and classical melodies.

Best World Music Album Grammy Award nominee Fatoumata Diawara of Mali, hip-hop record producer and DJ Kenny Beats, and one of India’s most popular contemporary folk bands The Raghu Dixit Project are also due to play.

BookMyShow will play a vital role in the organisation of the festival as promoter and co-producer, along with global producers Perry Farrell and C3 Presents.

Lollapalooza India has committed to providing a sustainable, inclusive, and accessible experience for fans with its #LollaForChange campaign. It is aiming to minimise waste, manage food waste, and increase environmentally friendly measures.

The first edition of the festival drew more than 60,000 fans last year with The Strokes, Imagine Dragons and Divine among the acts, while BookMyShow stated that it “raised the bar for live entertainment in India”.

In addition to the flagship festival in the United States, Lollapalooza also runs events in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, France, Germany, and Sweden.
