André Rieu attracted a record attendance for a classical music performance in the UAE as he debuted at Etihad Arena.

World-renowned Dutch violinist and conductor Rieu drew a crowd of 12,000 for the concert, which was presented by Sony Music-owned pan-regional concert promoters MAC Global in association with Abu Dhabi Culture.

Originally anticipated to host 10,000 guests, the overwhelming demand for tickets prompted MAC Global to release an additional 2,000 seats for sale, which were snapped up by eager concertgoers. The promoter said the success of the event underscores the growing appetite for cultural experiences and world-class entertainment in the UAE.

Rob McIntosh, chief executive of MAC Global, said: “Bringing André Rieu to Abu Dhabi has been a tremendous honour and the overwhelming response reaffirms our commitment to delivering unforgettable entertainment experiences. We are thrilled to have witnessed history being made with the largest classical concert ever held in the UAE.”

MAC Global is part of Sony Music Entertainment and has been operating in the region since 2014. The group has hosted performances by global icons in the heart of the Middle East, ranging from Michael Bublé to Tiësto.
