Bruno Mars sells 1m tickets in a day

Pop star Bruno Mars sold more than one million tickets on the opening day of sales for his forthcoming 24K Magic World Tour.

The American ‘Uptown Funk’ and ‘Just The Way You Are’ singer has 100 dates booked for the tour, which visits Europe and North America between March and November 2017.

Sales were boosted by Mars’ appearance at the American Music Awards and a CBS News 60 Minutes profile that marked his first on-camera interview in four years.

The tour, which is backed by Live Nation and Ticketmaster, begins in Antwerp, Belgium, and takes in four nights at London's O2 Arena as well as dates in Glasgow, Liverpool, Birmingham, Nottingham, Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester.

The 24K Magic World Tour switches to North America in July, where the schedule includes five shows in the New York City area and four nights in Los Angeles.
