Indian events platform selected by Facebook startup programme

Indian event discovery platform Partiko has been selected for Facebook’s prestigious developer-focused programme FbStart, which aids mobile-focused startups.

The New Delhi-based company will receive services and credits worth $40,000 (£32,250/€37,750), including mentorship from Facebook’s engineering teams and services from its partners like Amazon Web Services, Annie, Dropbox, Adobe and MailChimp.

Partiko, founded by Amanjot Malhotra and Gaurav Saini, went live earlier this year, and currently has over 15,000 users in India’s capital city.

According to the IndianCEO.in website, the startup is focusing on growth through college and music events and also plans to expand to Mumbai and Bangalore. In the next six months, the platform plans to improve its social reach and take its revenue “into eight figures”.

Currently the startup is looking for funding for team expansion and marketing the product. They are managing finances by providing product development as a service under the name of Actiwate to fund salaries.

“First of all, the FbStart programme helped us curb down on our server billings which have sky-rocketed without even marketing the platform. Also it will be an added boost and receiving mentorship from the pioneer of social networking will be a huge opportunity as we too are focusing in the similar segment in the longer run,” the co-founders told IndianCEO.in.
