Napoli to kick off e-ticketing service

Italian Serie A football club Napoli has introduced an e-ticketing service at its home ground, Stadio San Paolo.

According to the ANSA news agency, the system will be supported by Lis Ticket and Ticket One Group, which already provide ‘e-voucher’ technology to enable food, drink and merchandise to be bought at the stadium through a card.

Testing took place during two friendly matches against French Ligue 1 clubs Nice and AS Monaco.

However, the system passed its first major test during the club’s opening match of the season on Saturday – a 4-2 win against AC Milan.

The system has so far been tried out with corporate partners and VIP visitors at the stadium, but it is now expected to be rolled out for regular ticket-holders.

The club said that the said would “bring Napoli closer to the other big European clubs, where the electronic ticket has already been a reality for several years”.
