Touts blamed for empty seats at Rihanna’s ‘sold out’ Wembley gig

Ticket touts and declining popularity respectively have been suggested as reasons for empty seats and poor sales at concert dates featuring music stars Rihanna and Gwen Stefani.

Fans complained of large sections of empty seats at Rihanna’s Wembley Stadium gig last week, despite the event having officially sold out.

A report in the Daily Mail newspaper said: “It is understood touts and companies working on the re-selling market purchased large numbers of tickets and tried to sell them for a vast profit. However, their high-risk strategy did not work as intended as thousands of tickets remained unsold.”

Meanwhile, according to the New York Daily News newspaper, Stefani has struggled to attract interest in her 27-date tour which begins on July 12. Live Nation, the live events company, has reportedly slashed prices from an initial $80 per ticket down to just $40 for four.
