Reopened Paris arena enjoys great start to 2016

Paris’ refurbished AccorHotels Arena was a new entry at No.2 in a list of the venues that sold the most tickets during the first half of 2016.

While still way behind No.1 London’s O2 Arena, which attracted 872,089 spectators during the six months to June 30, some 513,616 visited the arena in the French capital city.

The No.2 during 2015, the Manchester Arena in England, sold 493,830 tickets and was in third place in a poll conducted by Pollstar. The Arena Cuidad de Mexico and Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany completed the top five, while the Barclays Center (433,173) in New York, at No.6, was the top US venue.

The AccorHotels Arena, previously the Palais Omnisports Paris Bercy, reopened in October 2015 after 18 months of work.

Artists such as Muse, Bruce Springsteen and Celine Dion, as well as sporting events, were among the key contributors to the Paris venue’s success during the first half of the year.
