Kids to be scanned at Disney World

Children as young as three years old are to have their fingerprints scanned in a bid to reduce ticket sharing and fraud at Walt Disney World in Florida.

For the last decade, adults and children over nine years old have been required to have their fingers scanned on entry to the theme park as Disney sought to combat the use of shared or stolen tickets.

Disney is now extending the process to younger children, although it said a parent can be scanned instead if there is any unease.

Disney uses ‘finger geometry’ to match visitors to their tickets.

A Disney spokesperson said the new policy “ensures a seamless entry experience for our guests, helps protect guests from someone else using their ticket and reduces ticket fraud.”
