Super Bowl tickets on track to be most expensive

Tickets for this year’s Super Bowl could go down in history as the most expensive ever, as prices have increased again.

According to TicketIQ.com, the average asking price for a ticket to watch the NFL American football championship game over the weekend was $6,942. The average asking price the weekend before the big game last year was $5,508, and $5,963 in 2016.

Fans of the Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots have seen ticket prices increase significantly in the past 24 hours for Sunday’s game at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

The highest average asking price at that point had been $6,103 in 2015, when the average price for that game settled at $9,722.

The lowest priced tickets have jumped up $740 from Monday morning, sitting at $3,842 on TicketIQ.

StubHub’s lowest costing Super Bowl ticket is at $3,429, which is a nearly $600 jump.

Meanwhile, the most expensive tickets on StubHub fall in at around $10,000.

A day after the conference championship games, the average ticket price among the 1,600 or so seats available on StubHub was $6,122.

Significant demand is coming from Eagles fans who have the chance to see their team in the championship game for the first time in 13 years.
