TickX enters rugby market with Sale Sharks deal

Event ticket search engine TickX has ventured into the rugby union market for the first time by agreeing a partnership with English Premiership club Sale Sharks.

The partnership will see all of Sale’s fixtures at the AJ Bell Stadium in Salford, Manchester, feature on the TickX search engine platform, which pulls results from more than 75 ticket-selling services, including Ticketmaster, Eventim and See Tickets.

Jack Hannington, a member of the digital marketing and communications team at Sale Sharks, said: “Partnering with TickX allows Sale Sharks to engage a local audience who otherwise may have missed out on world class rugby union taking place just a few miles away. With its substantial user base and easy to use interface, we’re excited to see how the partnership can help improve our visibility and capture new audiences.”

TickX is available to customers across UK, Ireland and Spain online or via the TickX app, with the company planning further expansion across Europe. The Sale Sharks deal represents the firm’s latest partnership in the UK sports sector.

Since August, TickX has partnered up with British Basketball League teams Radisson RED Glasgow Rocks, Cheshire Phoenix and Leicester Riders, as well as Elite Ice Hockey League team Manchester Storm.

In May, TicX agreed a deal with Lancashire County Cricket Club and its Emirates Old Trafford home.

Steve Pearce, TickX co-founder and chief executive, said: “Sale Sharks are our local rugby union team, we are looking forward to helping them reach new audiences locally and nationally, as well as increase ticket sales for the upcoming rugby union season.”

Meanwhile, TickX has agreed another partnership with gpticketshop.com to bolster its sports offering. The website provides motorsport fans with a wide array of events to choose from ranging from various F1 tickets and experiences through to MotoGP.
