Rangers surpasses season ticket record

Scottish Premiership football club Rangers has broken its own season ticket sales record with one month to go before the 2019-20 campaign kicks off.

More than 45,757 tickets have been sold so far, breaking last year’s record of 45,419 season passes.

The club added that it has a season card waiting list of close to 14,000.

During the 2018-19 season, Rangers saw an average attendance of 49,564 at its 50,817-capacity Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow.

Rangers chairman Dave King said: “I said recently that it would be remarkable if we could get to last season’s figure for season ticket sales but you have done more than that.

“You have set a new high and I am immensely proud to be chairman of this great club. Let’s continue to do the right things and project Rangers as the country’s premier club and again, thank you for your wonderful support.”

The club’s managing director Stewart Robertson added: “We all know how big a club this is but these ticket numbers just reinforce the depth of feeling so many people have for Rangers.”
