Wembley Stadium reports successful year of concerts in 2019

Wembley Stadium in London has seen a record concert season in 2019 after hosting more concerts than ever before.

The home of English football hosted 38 shows, shifting a total of 855,809 tickets for a total gross of $102.2m.

The 90,000-capacity venue’s hosted k-pop band BTS, which drew more than 115,000 tickets and grossed $13.5m. The Spice Girls sold 221,971 tickets and grossed $27.3m, according to Pollstar Boxoffice reports. Eagles, Billy Joel, Bon Jovi and Fleetwood Mac were among the other artists to play Wembley last summer.

Wembley also hosted Pink’s two-night sold out Beautiful Trauma run which grossed $16.5m.

“Commercially, all shows sold extremely well,” Wembley Stadium senior commercial manager James Taylor revealed to Pollstar. “Our new hospitality facilities sold very strongly for all of the shows with great feedback from fans and some new F&B improvements were also in place. All in all, it was an extremely strong summer of music for Wembley.”
