Oakland A’s kicks off voucher ticket scheme

Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise Oakland Athletics has launched its ticket voucher scheme for regular-season home games this year.

The FlexTix initiative will allow fans to redeem their vouchers, which are on sale now, for any available game in the 2021 season.

The A’s are selling vouchers in amounts of four, eight, 16 and 32, for seats in the Field Level, Plaza Level and Bleachers. The tickets will provide access to the Oakland Coliseum in physically distanced pods of two or four seats.

FlexTix prices range $20 to $65 per ticket, and are dependent on the seating levels and the number of tickets purchased, with individual prices decreasing with the more vouchers bought.

Voucher holders will have priority to redeem them for tickets starting in mid-March before single-game tickets go on sale, the A’s said.

The A’s said in a news release: “Given the current health and safety restrictions for events due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the A’s are planning for capacity restrictions for the entire 2021 season and defined ‘pod seating for fans.

“For the 2021 regular-season, if games are canceled or played with additional restrictions that prevent fans from using their vouchers or tickets due to COVID-19, the A’s will provide a credit for future ticket purchases or a full refund.”

During 2020, fans were not allowed at any regular-season games at the Coliseum during the truncated baseball season.

The A’s will kick off its season on April 1 with an opener against the Houston Astros.
