Dice appointed for Barcelona’s Sonar Festival

Mobile-focused ticketing provider Dice has struck a deal covering the Sonar Festival in Barcelona, Spain.

The agreement will span multiple editions of the event, starting with next year’s event, from June 16-18. The likes of Eric Prydz, Richie Hawtin and The Chemical Brothers have already been confirmed for the 2022 festival.

As part of the agreement, selected performances from the 2022 festival will be streamed live by Dice, which has shown more than 6,000 events live online, with tickets sold in 178 countries.

Ventura Barba, CEO of Sonar, said: “Exploring the possibilities of technology to foster musical creativity has been part of Sonar’s DNA for the last 27 years. In this respect, Dice’s focus on innovation and independence to improve the ticketing experience for music lovers  makes them a natural partner for us.”

Dice most recently became an exclusive ticketing partner of London live music venue Bush Hall.

The provider uses mobile-based technology to ensure tickets cannot be sold on to resale websites, and also offers personalised recommendations, as well as other features.

Andrew Foggin, global head of music at Dice, said: “We’re long-time fans of Sonar at Dice. The brand has cultivated a global reputation for its music, tech and arts programming, offering fans a truly unique cultural experience.

“We’re very happy to help bring Sonar to more fans around the world. By choosing Dice, Sonar are choosing to put their fans first all while offering their fans a best-in-class ticketing experience.”
