Over 300,000 thousand tickets have been sold for ABBA Voyage, with more than a quarter of these sales being made by fans from overseas.
ABBA Voyage is a concert series which will feature avatars of the Swedish pop band, with the events being held at a custom-built, 3,000-capacity venue.
ABBA Arena is in London’s Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and will hold shows five evenings per week and two matinee performances. The virtual ABBA members will be accompanied by a live 10-piece band. Tickets were made available via Ticketmaster in September for the concert series, which will begin in spring next year.
Around 28% of the ticket sales booked for shows next year have been made by customers from outside of the UK. The highest number of international sales comes from – unsurprisingly – Stockholm in Sweden, where ABBA formed in 1972. Nearby Gothenburg has also seen fans purchase tickets for the experience.
Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Berlin also held some of the highest booking numbers outside of the UK. The furthest registered customer was 10,000 miles away in Sydney, Australia.
Reports have also detailed how Sunday is the most popular day to experience the virtual concert. The highest age demographic for bookings is 50 to 60-year-olds who grew up with ABBA hits during the 1970s and 80s, with one in 10 fans booking tickets being under the age of 24.
