UEFA to offer loyal fans 30,000 tickets to club finals

UEFA is set to offer fans 30,000 free tickets across its club competitions including the Champions League, Europa League, Europa Conference League and Women’s Champions League.

Tickets will be available to fans of the teams that reach the finals of each competition, to thank them for their support for European football during the COVID-19 pandemic.

UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin announced the initiative yesterday (Monday) with finalist clubs able to use the tickets to reward loyal supporters – such as longest-serving season ticket holders or those that have attended the most away games.

Some 10,000 free tickets will be made available for the Champions League final with 5,000 for each team, while 8,000 tickets in total have been released for the Europa League final.

There are 6,000 tickets available for both the Europa Conference League final and Women’s Champions League final, with 3,000 tickets allocated to each finalist club.

These tickets cannot be given to sponsors, partners or club officials.

On top of the free ticketing initiative, UEFA has also frozen the price of its category 4 (€70/£58/$79) and category 3 (€180/£151/$204) tickets for the next three men’s Champions League finals in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Čeferin said: “Football fans are the lifeblood of the game and we thought it would be a nice way to recognise the difficulties that have experienced over the last two years and how they nevertheless still managed to support their teams and live their passion even when away from the stadiums.

“Fans are playing an integral part in the development of football, and we must ensure that loyal travelling supporters can attend historical moments for their cherished teams at affordable prices.”

UEFA has said that it will bear all the costs of this initiative and it will not impact the financial distribution to clubs, who will receive all due amounts.

Today (Tuesday) UEFA also announced a new global licensing and regional sponsorship agreement with Socios.com.

The deal means that Socios.com has become an official licensed product and the official Fan Token partner of the Champions League, Europa League, Europa Conference League and UEFA Super Cup.  It also means that Socios.com has become a regional sponsor of the Champions League and the Super Cup for the 2021-2024 cycle in the US.

Socios.com creates Fan Tokens and blockchain-based products, and the partnerships means it will be able to use UEFA’s men’s club competition branding and enhance the value of Socios’ Club Fan Tokens by awarding Club Fan Token holders with add-ons for UEFA’s men’s club competitions.
