Boston Police warn NBA fans over counterfeit tickets

The Boston Police Department (BPD) has warned basketball fans to be wary of counterfeits when purchasing tickets for the upcoming National Basketball Association (NBA) finals between the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors.

A statement from the police also said that if anyone notices or has information on the sale of counterfeit tickets, they should get in contact with the Boston Police.

“The Boston Police would like to take this opportunity to remind fans to be wary of counterfeits when purchasing tickets for the upcoming NBA Finals between the Celtics and the Golden State Warriors,” said the statement.

The service also told fans to purchase tickets from authorised sellers, as purchasing tickets from a secondary retailer could be a risk.

The statement added: “The BPD encourages fans to only buy tickets from authorised ticket agencies. Fans who purchase tickets from a secondary source are taking a chance and do so at the buyer’s own risk. Officers want to proactively curb such activity and encourage buyers to only purchase from official vendors. Purchasing via other means creates the potential for possessing an invalid and/or counterfeit ticket.”

The Celtics will travel to San Francisco to face the Warriors in the first of seven games as part of the NBA Finals on June 3.
