Lionel Messi’s possible Inter Miami debut sees ticket prices spike

With iconic footballer Lionel Messi expected to play his first game for Major League Soccer’s (MLS) Inter Miami CF this week, ticket prices have rocketed.

According to a report from CBS News, tickets for Friday’s game against Mexico’s Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup were listed on ticket retailer Vivid Seats for as much as $56,901 (£44,000/€51,000). 

The cup is an annual competition featuring MLS teams and clubs from Mexico’s LIGA MX. 

At the time of writing, TheTicketingBusiness found that tickets were listed for as much as $15,459. 

The cheapest tickets were available for $259. 

Ticketmaster is currently displaying Verified Resale Tickets for as much as $10,000, while the cheapest resale ticket is listed for $265. 

Inter Miami will take on Cruz Azul at Fort Lauderdale’s 21,000-capacity DRV PNK Stadium. 

The MLS will resume on August 21 after a break to play in the Leagues Cup.
