Manchester United will contribute £30 (€35/$37) to the cost of every FA Cup final ticket purchased for under-16 season ticket-holders, meaning young fans can attend Wembley for as little as £5.

The FA Cup final between United and Premier League rivals Manchester City will take place on May 25 at the 90,000-capacity Wembley Stadium in London.

The subsidy is in addition to the £10 reduction from the English Football Association, and replaces previous initiatives such as a free bucket hat, which was presented ahead of last season’s FA Cup final, and the scarf handed out before the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United.

Agreed between the club and the Fans’ Forum, it is hoped that the move demonstrates the importance of the club’s youth following, while also supporting families that have recently paid for semi-final tickets and travel.

“Every young football fan dreams of seeing their team win the FA Cup at Wembley,” said Rick McGagh, director of fan engagement at Manchester United.

“Working alongside the Fans’ Forum, we are delighted to make this dream a more affordable reality for our under-16 season ticket holders by subsidising their tickets so they can attend for as little as £5.

“Promoting and investing in youth is part of the fabric of this football club and we are proud to offer more support to our young fans. We know two trips to Wembley – and three for those also attending the women’s FA Cup final – in the space of a month is expensive for all fans, but especially so for young fans who usually attend with other family members. We look forward to having lots of our young supporters cheering the team on at Wembley.”
