Tickets for two friendly football matches between Canada’s and Brazil’s national women’s teams have sold out in just 20 minutes.

Canada is set to face Brazil at Montreal’s Saputo Stadium on October 28 and three days later at Wanderers Grounds in Halifax.

Wanderers Ground is home to the Canadian Premier League’s HFX Wanderers FC, and has a capacity of 6,400 spectators. Saputo Stadium, home of Major League Soccer (MLS) club CF Montreal, has a capacity of 20,800.

According to the Canadian Press, tickets sold out in minutes during the general sale on Saturday, after a pre-sale for members on Thursday last week also saw tickets snapped up for the games.

Ahead of the ticket sales, Canada team coach Bev Pressman said: “We are excited to officially kick off our new Olympic Journey against Brazil, a team we have a rich Olympic history with. To play at home in front of our fans again, after what was a fantastic experience in September, will be the perfect stage for us to kick on and build towards Paris 2024.”

Canada last faced Brazil in a 2-0 win in February in the She Believes Cup.
