TikTok launches its first-ever music festival

TikTok has announced plans for its first-ever real-world music festival, which will be headlined by Cardi B and Niall Horan.

The video sharing app’s In the Mix event will take place at the 15,000-capacity Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona on December 10. Anitta and Charlie Puth will also perform, alongside a supporting cast drawn from TikTok’s emerging artist programme TikTok Elevate.

TikTok will be handling the ticket pre-sales, with codes to be sent to fans who follow the four headline artists on its app so they can buy tickets from October 27. Tickets for the event, which is being promoted by Danny Wimmer Presents, will then go on general sale from November 2 via TikTok’s tickets page and the venue’s partner, Ticketscom.

The company describes TikTok In the Mix as the For You page come to life. As well as live performances, it will also feature small business pop-ups and creator activations.

“No other platform mixes music, creativity and community like TikTok. With In The Mix, our goal is to bring the For You feed to life for fans at the venue and on TikTok,” said Paul Hourican, TikTok’s global head of music partnerships and programming. “Our vision is to create a show that is reimagined for the TikTok era and our music-loving global community.”

Last year, Ticketmaster teamed up with TikTok to create an in-application feature to enable fans to purchase tickets without having to come out of the app.

TikTok has previously streamed live concerts, such as electronic duo Bicep’s gig from London’s Alexandra Palace last December. Apple and Spotify have both organised live music events in the past.
