Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert film has grossed $250m (£197m/€228m) globally in ticket sales, making it one of the 20 biggest films of 2023.
According to AMC Theatres, which is distributing the film, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour finished Thanksgiving weekend in the US with a total of $178.2m and $71.8m overseas. The concert film is currently ranked 19th in the global chart.
The film cost just $15m to make and was self-financed by the singer and her team. It has been played in cinemas between Thursday and Sunday for the last seven weekends. The film also brought in more than $100m worth of advanced ticket sales.
AMC is also set to distribute its second concert film in the form of Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé. Predictions currently show the film to gross between $20m – $25m, compared to the $92.8m raked in by Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.
The Renaissance Tour film will cover Beyoncé’s 56-performance, 39-city record-breaking jaunt. It is due to be released on December 1.
