English League One football club, Bolton Wanderers, has reached a record number of season ticket sales, following the conclusion of its half-year sales period.

The half-year season tickets sales period came to a close on New Year’s Day, pushing the total up to 16,424 for the 2023-24 campaign. This total also equates to the highest for a second consecutive year, since the 2008-09 season.

Some 556 half season tickets were sold during the latest sales phase, pushing the current number of season ticket-holders up by over 2,360 compared to the previous year. Additionally, 344 season tickets have been distributed to 84 local primary schools for children and families in the community to enjoy.

In the last four years, the number of season tickets sold has risen from 7,576 during the 2020-21 COVID-hit season to 16,424. This equates to an increase of 116%.

“The outstanding and ever-growing support we continue to receive from fans is key to the positive direction the club is moving in both on and off the pitch,” said Neil Hart, chief executive of Bolton.

“The numbers we are seeing have exceeded all our expectations. This final total demonstrates the incredible level of love and support there is for this club across our community and that is something we are so proud of.”

Ahead of the current campaign, Bolton was already tracking higher than the previous year when it came to season ticket sales.

In 2022, the club recorded a 25% increase in sales on the previous year.
