XS2Event has entered into a partnership with LaLiga to encourage global fans to attend matches in Spain.

The ticketing company helps to provide entrance to events for travel and tourist agencies in almost 90 countries.

As part of the new deal, Primera División clubs will provide tickets to the tour operator so that fans from outside of Spain can experience a match live from the stadium. At present, Atlético de Madrid, Sevilla FC, Real Sociedad, Athletic Club, UD Almería, UD Las Palmas, RCD Mallorca and Girona FC have signed up to the initiative.

The Dutch agency will purchase 10 advance tickets for each football game of the 2023-24 season from the club, before making them available on its platform to boost access for international fans. The specific agreement with each club can be modified by increasing the number of tickets purchased, or by offering additional immersive experiences.

“It’s important for clubs to facilitate this type of experience for its international supporters as they’re a fundamental part of international growth,” said Jaime Blanco, attaché to presidency from LaLiga.

“Additionally, international fans spend, on average, 30% more than domestic supporters, thus providing an extra source of revenue for clubs.”

Jeroen Huis in ‘t Veld, co-founder of Groningen-headquartered XS2Event, added: “We are proud to welcome LaLiga to our platform. With our unique partnership we will be able to help make Spanish sports events more accessible to the travel industry. With over 750 travel agencies using the XS2Event platform we’re keen to help the LaLiga clubs with new global sales opportunities.”
