Concert and festival promoter FKP Scorpio has invested in Drottningskärs Kastell in the Swedish municipality Karlskrona, with the aim of hosting music events throughout the year.
The move will enable the region to develop its music and cultural offering, with the castle playing a major role in providing a new backdrop.
“This is a first step for us to develop the music and cultural offer in Karlskrona. We see great potential in the city’s arenas combined with aggressive municipal destination work. This creates good conditions for us to invest,” said FKP Scorpio’s Niklas Lundell.
The venue is also developing its status as a visitor attraction, by curating new content, after signing an agreement with Statens Fastighetsverk (the National Property Board) last year.
“We are working on developing different parts of Drottningskär’s castle and quality concerts during the summer are an important step,” said Pär Israelsson, Karlskrona municipality’s director of tourism.
“Of course, we are incredibly proud that FKP Scorpio chose Karlskrona and this unique concert arena. Karlskrona needs more cultural and music events spread throughout the year. FKP Scorpio’s presence in the future will mean a lot for the city’s attractiveness.”
