Pre-sales for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo have surpassed the 100,000 mark in just a few weeks.
The pre-sale period opened on August 5 with sales reaching roughly 110,000 tickets.
Taking place at Japan National Stadium, the World Athletics Championships are scheduled for September 13-21, 2025.
Popular sessions include the men’s and women’s 100m finals on day two, and the men’s and women’s 4x100m and 4x400m relay finals during the day nine evening session. Some sessions even sold out within roughly three hours for all ticket types (excluding wheelchair tickets), exceeding World Athletics’ expectations.
Due to the overwhelming demand, some sessions and ticket types reached their pre-sale limits, resulting in an additional pre-sale date on August 15. However, once again, tickets for the most popular sessions were snapped by the end of the additional day.
‘Premium 1’, ‘Premium 2’, ’Tokyo 25 special campaign tickets’, and ‘Category B’ tickets all proved popular during the pre-sales.
Approximately 15% of the tickets in the pre-sale have been purchased by people from 60 countries, while there has been high demand domestically in the host city of Tokyo and Japan.
A total of 700,000 tickets will be available for the event at accessible prices, with 70% of this figure priced at less than 10,000 JPY (£52/€62/$69). Ticket prices also begin at 2,025 JPY for families and groups.
Registered members will have priority access to tickets until September 20.
