Janet Jackson fans who had tickets for the singer’s tour that was cut short two years ago will now be able to finally see the US star after new dates were announced.
The Ticketing Business reported last week that one fan was suing Live Nation after the company failed to refund ticket holders because the Unbreakable tour was officially ‘rescheduled’ rather than ‘cancelled’.
The Unbreakable tour began in summer 2015, but Jackson first had to postpone the tour in December of that year to undergo surgery. Then in April 2016, when the singer decided she wanted to start a family, Live Nation announced that the dates would be rescheduled for 2017.
Janet Jackson will now embark on the four-month State Of The World tour, which is to be produced by Live Nation. From September, Jackson will play 56 cities in North America, including multiple stops in Texas and California, “hit all four corners of the US” according to Live Nation, and visit Vancouver and Toronto in Canada. Her final stop will be on December 17 in Atlanta at Philips Arena.
Live Nation said that “tickets held for previous Unbreakable tour events that are now re-scheduled will be honoured at the new dates”.
Live Nation said: “The State Of The World tour is a continuation of the Unbreakable tour and will include fan favourites from her chart-topping ‘Unbreakable’ album, an array of her socially conscious music she’s released throughout her career, and other smash hits and soon-to-be released new tracks with a state of the art live production.”
Ticket holder Tiana Adams recently filed a class action lawsuit against Live Nation over the Unbreakable tour, according to entertainment website TMZ.
Following the first postponed show in 2015, UK and Europe dates were rescheduled and then cancelled once more. The North American dates were then postponed shortly after with no rescheduling attempts made until today’s announcement.
