Moritz Schwenkow (third from left) has been appointed chief ticketing officer at MyTicket owner Deutsche Entertainment AG (DEAG).
Schwenkow will be responsible for DEAG’s entire ticketing business in the future and will develop synergies between the ticketing platforms myticket.de, myticket.at, myticket.co.uk and the UK ticketing platform Gigantic.com, which was acquired in December 2019.
As CTO, he is also responsible for the expansion into further European countries and, in the long term, also for the consolidation of all ticketing activities.
Schwenkow said: “I am very much looking forward to working together with my colleagues on the Board. The DEAG Group is already excellently positioned internationally in the area of ticketing through MyTicket and Gigantic.
“On this strong basis and as a result of increasing digitalisation, we want to continue to grow, provide impulses for other business areas and further expand our earnings power in the years to come.”
This week saw the US Soccer Federation appoint William Wilson as its new chief executive.
The 52-year-old joins US Soccer from the Wasserman agency, where he had served as executive vice-president and co-head of American football for the last eight years. He will start his new role on March 30 and eventually relocate to Chicago.
Prior to Wasserman, Wilson (pictured left) served as executive vice-president of international business and special events for Major League Soccer and Soccer United Marketing from 2008 to 2012. He has also served as managing director of NFL Mexico and held positions with the Arena Football League and the Champ Car World Series.
US Soccer president Cindy Parlow Cone said: “He brings an unrivalled set of experience and expertise to soccer in America. His global perspective, background in marketing and growing sporting events and extensive experience in the sports business will be invaluable in growing soccer at all levels. Soccer is the world’s game and Will is the perfect person to help us grow it to America’s game.”
Martyn Phillips has agreed to stay on as chief executive of the Welsh Rugby Union for the foreseeable future.
Phillips (second left) had notified the WRU board of his intention to step down in the summer after five years in the role. He has now opted to stay on amid a period of uncertainty for the organisation due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
WRU chairman Gareth Davies had formed a selection panel and instructed recruitment agencies as part of the search for Phillips’ successor but this has now paused to focus on current “pressing matters”.
MGM Resorts International has announced chief operating officer and president Bill Hornbuckle as its new acting chief executive.
Hornbuckle (pictured right) will replace outgoing chairman and chief executive Jim Murren. Paul Salem will replace Murren as chair of the board of the directors at MGM Resorts.
MGM Resorts is a global entertainment company and employs 80,000 people worldwide.
