London Theatre Direct expects boost after MDQ purchase

London Theatre Direct (LTD) believes its acquisition of MDQ Tickets will create new sales opportunities in the West End market.

The theatre ticket provider said the combination of the two companies’ experience, expertise and business will lead to greater sales through direct websites and partner channels.

LTD confirmed that the two brands will continue to operate separately in the market through their direct consumer websites.

Francis Hellyer, chief executive of LTD, said: “We’re very excited about the opportunity this acquisition presents to expand our operations. The team at MDQ are committed to customer service and have a passion for London theatre. I’ve been impressed by MDQ’s growth and focus on technology.”

MDQ Tickets, which was founded in 2012, will relocate into the new LTD offices in Soho’s Greek Street, and its day-to-day operations will continue to be run by Nams Shah.

Ivan Izikowitz, co-chairman of MDQ, said: “We had been looking for a strategic partner to accelerate our growth. When I met Francis I realised that both businesses complemented each other perfectly and a merging of talents and technologies would make for a formidable partnership.”
