Huddersfield increases ‘Tickets for Troops’ support

Huddersfield Town has increased its allocation of free tickets for members of the UK armed forces for the English Championship second-tier football club’s annual ‘Remembrance Game’ against Birmingham City on November 5.

The game comes ahead of Armistice Day on November 11, when the UK remembers the victims of the two World Wars and armed conflicts since 1945.

The ‘Tickets for Troops’ scheme provides free tickets to members of the armed forces for a variety of sporting, musical and cultural events. Huddersfield is already a supporter of the initiative, but has increased the allocation for the game against Birmingham.

“Given that the Birmingham City fixture is our annual ‘Remembrance Game’, it is only right that we extend the offering so that more forces personnel – current and old – can come along and join us in the celebrations,” Huddersfield commercial director Sean Jarvis said.

Earlier this month, Huddersfield donated £2 of each ticket sold for a league match against Derby County to the #HandsOffHRI community-led campaign to save the town’s Accident and Emergency hospital department.
