‘Super-tout’ switches operations to Isle of Man, report says

An individual accused of being a ‘super-tout’ by the Daily Record in Scotland has relisted his company in the Isle of Man, the newspaper has reported.

Julien Lavellee’s ‘I Want Tickets’ outfit was previously registered in Quebec, Canada, where there is a ban on reselling event tickets for a profit.

Copies of the newspaper’s investigation into Lavellee’s actions were circulated to members of the UK’s Culture, Media and Sport Committee on Tuesday.

The Daily Record said that Lavallee had also withdrawn his tickets from secondary website StubHub.

Lavallee has previously claimed that he has paid some venues to acquire batches of tickets in the past.

One industry source said: “Lavallee seems to be emigrating his business to a tax haven just as the HMRC is being urged to investigate the under-reporting of income by known touts.

“His own revelations have given a great insight into how easy it is for touts to multiply their wealth by scooping up tickets and charging fans a fortune.”

Adam Webb of the FanFair Alliance said: “Findings from the Record’s investigation were invaluable in driving home to MPs what really goes on under the surface of these platforms.”
