Ticketmaster makes sweet music with Spotify

Music-streaming platform Spotify has unveiled a partnership with Ticketmaster.

Under the agreement, Ticketmaster will include links to buy tickets into pages on Spotify, bringing a new dimension to the service.

Spotify will email concert recommendations to its users “in most markets” based on their listening habits.

“Since concerts continue to be a key revenue stream for most artists, we’ve been applying our fan understanding and recommendation technology – the same ones that power experiences like Discover Weekly – to help drive additional touring revenue for artists,” Spotify said.

“By increasing the reach and putting recommendations directly in millions of fans’ inboxes, we think we can do much more.”

Starting this week, concert listings will be integrated into artist pages, the recommended concerts feature and Spotify’s emails. Users will be able to opt in early for access to the recommendations.

“Ticketmaster’s global scale provides Spotify users with the most diverse options for live events and will help drive more fans to concerts,” the company added.

“Working directly with the Ticketmaster team and their data feeds will simplify the purchase experience and deepen our understanding of how recommendations drive sales.”

Spotify already has a partnership with concert database Songkick and the music platform added: “We’ll continue partnering with Songkick for concerts that aren’t being sold via Ticketmaster.

“Through Songkick’s comprehensive database of shows, we’ll ensure that every date — no matter who you ticket through — is listed and can be recommended to fans around the world.”
