Vibe launches crowdfunding initiative

Secondary ticketing service Vibe Tickets will this week launch a crowdfunding campaign with the aim of raising £600,000.

The start-up, which allows music fans to buy and sell tickets for gigs at face value or below, was a runner-up in the final of the Virgin Media Business VOOM competition earlier this year, with Virgin founder Richard Branson hailing the company’s “determination and innovative flair”.

The crowdfunding initiative will allow investors to acquire an equity stake in the business for as little as £10.

The operation was founded in 2013 by Luke Massie, who will make a 10-per-cent stake in Vibe Tickets available via Crowdcube this Wednesday.

The company has already raised more than £400,000, including a £200,000 injection from technology entrepreneur Matt Newing, founder of Elite Telecom.

Massie told Inthebay.co.uk that the fresh funding round would take the business to “the next level”.

He said: “Vibe Tickets has 145,000 followers on Twitter from around the world so Crowdcube is a great way for us to raise our next investment.

“We’re a fan-to-fan business and now real fans can invest in a genuine, ethical ticketing platform.

“It’s a great opportunity for anyone who shares our passion to get involved and be part of something so exciting and disruptive in the market. We haven’t even launched it yet but there’s been an unbelievable amount of interest.”

Vibe is preparing to launch the latest version of their mobile app, which has been built by in-house developers.
