Ticket prices plateau for A-Rod finale

Ticket prices for baseball legend Alex Rodriguez’s final game for the New York Yankees this Friday have plateaued after rocketing by 500% earlier in the week.

As reported previously by TickTechNews.com, the average listing price for a match ticket spiked from about $76 to $450, according to data from TiqIQ, the event ticket search engine.

The most expensive ticket on offer was a seat in the Legends section of Yankee Stadium costing $17,000, which are normally available for about $400, while the lowest price was about $85 – five times the normal price.

However, the lowest resale-market asking price had dipped to $22 by yesterday (Wednesday), with an average price of $211.73.

The average asking price for Derek Jeter’s final home game in 2014 was $768.09, while for Mariano Rivera’s last game in 2013, the average price was $237.89.

Secondary ticketing provider SeatGeek also said that asking prices had dropped by 31 per cent since late Sunday due to softer demand than anticipated.
