Live Nation cheered by BottleRock acquisition

Live Nation has continued its festivals shopping spree by snapping up the BottleRock Napa Valley event in California.

BottleRock is an annual music, wine, craft brew and culinary festival, which this year will be headlined by Foo Fighters, Maroon 5 and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. The event, to be held in May, is expected to attract 120,000 spectators.

Live Nation said that, in keeping with its M&A strategy, BottleRock will remain independent under the leadership of festival producer Latitude 38 Entertainment, adding that its “founders will continue to be significant shareholders and owners”.

“The Latitude 38 team has created a festival unique to the Napa Valley that has widespread appeal,” said Jordan Zachary, chief strategy officer at Live Nation Entertainment. “BottleRock Napa Valley adds another leading North American festival to our growing and diverse portfolio.”

Live Nation already has more than 80 festivals in its global festival portfolio including Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Reading, Leeds, Governor’s Ball, Electric Daisy Carnival and Rock Werchter. Last year it acquired a majority stake in AC Entertainment, and bought French promoter Nous Productions from Warner Music Group.

Dave Graham, chief executive of Latitude 38 Entertainment, added: “We couldn’t be happier to partner with Live Nation Entertainment. This move provides an opportunity to tap into Live Nation’s scale and artist talent resources, which will allow us to continue to develop and improve upon the BottleRock experience – combining great music, food and wine, with the best that the Napa Valley has to offer.”
