Spotify partners with AXS to bring listeners event ticketing

Spotify, the music streaming service, has partnered with ticketing platform AXS to install a direct ticket feed embedded within the apps.

Spotify users are now provided with access to more than 25,000 annual music events ticketed by AXS globally.

The direct ticket feed will be both on desktop and mobile apps, giving fans fast access to purchase tickets. Listeners will also receive personalised recommendations for live events in their area.

The suggestions will be based on listening behaviours, artist preferences and user location and will be presented to the listener in multiple ways.

Spotify currently features more than 150,000 artists with concert dates in more than 100,000 venues.

The Concerts section on Spotify is directly integrated through the AXS API for a real-time user experience. Events will also appear on the artist pages under the Concert tabs on desktop, artist pages on mobile under On Tour, and in the Concert Recommendation emails Spotify sends out on a bi-weekly basis.

“This integration enables a direct connection between the 100 million Spotify users and seeing their favourite bands live,” said Dean DeWulf, senior vice-president of music for AXS.

“Fans, artists, promoters and our venue clients all benefit from this aligned technology – it’s a natural fit that extends the reach of the AXS platform into the Spotify ecosystem.”

The integration with AXS will now allow Spotify users to purchase tickets directly to hundreds of venues globally that AXS serves, such as Staples Center, Santa Barbara Bowl, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Sprint Center, Target Center, Verizon Theatre, Forest Hills Stadium and Infinite Energy Center in the US, The O2, SSE Arena Wembley and Hyde Park in the UK and the Stockholm Live event district in Northern Europe containing the four arenas of Ericsson Globe, Tele2 Arena, Hovet and Annexet.
