Barcelona tickets cancelled for Atletico trip

Barcelona say “logistical problems” at Atletico Madrid’s new stadium mean its fans cannot buy tickets for the LaLiga game at the new Wanda Metropolitano next weekend.

The Nou Camp club has told supporters that applications for away fans have been cancelled as the hosts can no longer supply tickets previously offered.

Barcelona were due to have just 250 tickets for the match at the 68,000-seat Atletico stadium as there are no away allocation specifications in LaLiga.

It is believed Atletico are prioritising their 112,000 members.

“Due to logistical problems in the new Wanda Metropolitano stadium, Atletico de Madrid cannot supply the tickets previously offered to FC Barcelona supporters clubs ahead of La Liga match on Saturday 14th of October,” Barcelona said in a statement.

“Therefore, all FC Barcelona supporters clubs ticket applications for the above match have been cancelled.”

The Wanda Metropolitano has hosted two La Liga fixtures and a Uefa Champions League clash with Chelsea since opening on September 16.

Barcelona was obliged to play its most recent La Liga match against Las Palmas at the Nou Camp behind closed doors amid political tensions in Catalonia.
