Mobile ticketing platform Atom Tickets has added hundreds of new screens through a partnership with National Amusements’ Showcase Cinemas.
Through the deal, Atom Tickets will now provide digital ticketing for more than 400 screens across Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Rhode Island.
Atom has increased the amount of theatre locations by 45 per cent compared to last year.
National Amusements operates more than 935 movie screens in the US, UK and Latin America.
Earlier this year, B&B Theatres, Flix Brewhouse and Southern Theatres collectively added 891 more screens to the Atom platform, bringing the total up to more than 18,500 screens across North America.
Atom Tickets allows users in North America to pre-order movie tickets and concessions, while the platform also provides moviegoers the option to watch trailers, read reviews and coordinate movie outings with friends while allowing each person to pay separately.
“We are thrilled to be working with Atom Tickets to make moviegoing easier than ever for our guests,” said Mark Malinowski, Showcase Cinemas’ vice president of marketing.
“Atom has really delivered above and beyond our expectations. We’re excited to work with them in a concerted effort to drive more digital ticketing sales for all of our locations.”
Matthew Bakal, Atom Tickets co-founder and executive chairman, said: “We pride ourselves on delivering the best digital ticketing service to cinema partners and moviegoers. Welcoming Showcase Cinemas, the sixth largest circuit in the country by box office, to Atom Tickets is testament to these efforts.
“It’s been a great year onboarding new exhibitor partners, and we’re looking forward to carrying this momentum into the new year.”
Through Atom’s social invite feature, users can purchase their ticket and also invite friends to go to the movie without paying for them. This process allows groups to easily reserve seats together – a crucial benefit for highly anticipated box office releases.
