LaLiga, the governing body of Spanish football, is set to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) technology to schedule its fixture list as a means to drive attendances in the top flight.
Although LaLiga announces its full fixture list at the start of the season, the kick-off times for each match weekend are not decided until a matter of weeks before the games.
LaLiga president Javier Tebas hopes a new AI-led system will make it easier for the league to organise fixture lists, which will ultimately grow attendances and ticket sales, and maximise TV viewing figures in overseas markets.
