The Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), the governing body of French football, has proposed a single ticket price for away fans starting from the 2019-20 season.
The rate put forward for Ligue 1, the top tier in France, is €10 (£8.75/$11.16) per match and €5 for Ligue 2 games.
The measure still needs to be submitted to the LFP board of directors on June 6 for it to come into force during next season.
It would also need to ensure the visitor volume stays at five per cent of the stadium’s capacity, limiting entry to 1,000 fans, unless there is a specific agreement between the two clubs.
The move seeks to avoid prohibitive prices for away fans, especially for top games at grounds such as Paris Saint Germain’s Parc des Princes. PSG has spoken out against the €10 limit and said it “would have accepted the idea if the price had been €20”.
