Ticketmaster expands European festival portfolio with Waves Vienna

Ticketmaster has further expanded its festival portfolio with the acquisition of Austria’s Waves Vienna.

The conference and showcase festival hosts several international alternative, electronic, rock and club acts, as well as offering punters the chance to attend lectures and panels, as well as participate in a workshop about the topic “East meets West.”

The move has grown the Live Nation-owned ticketing firm’s festival roster, which already includes Norway’s by:Larm, the UK’s Great Escape and the Netherlands’ Eurosonic Noorderslag, along with Wide Days in Scotland.

“We’re happy to welcome Vienna’s first music showcase festival, Waves, to the family,” said Jon West, Ticketmaster artist services marketing director, according to IQ Mag.

“We’ve been supporting important showcase festivals like the Great Escape, Eurosonic, by:Larm and more for many years now. We get a big kick out of supporting and spotlighting new artists, and festivals like Waves help us do exactly that.

“The magic of these events is their dual nature – the music right alongside the conference – and we have the technology and experience to handle both.”
