Broadway’s Moulin Rouge! announces bushfire relief performance and concert

Broadway’s Moulin Rouge! The Musical has announced it will host a benefit performance and concert to raise money for the ongoing bushfires in Australia.

The performance, which is scheduled for January 26 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, will donate all the ticket money toward the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund and WIRES Australian Wildfire Rescue.

The day after the showing members will take part in the Make It Rain Rally, an initiative created by Australian cast members Karli Dinardo and Reed Luplau.

The benefit show, dubbed (Le) Poisson Rouge, will be directed by LuPlau and feature performances from stars including Ben Folds, Postmodern Jukebox, Morgan James, and Alexis Michelle, as well as several actors from Frozen, Hamilton, and Tootsie. Funds from the gig will also be donated to the same organisations.

The benefit is one of several fundraising events in the live entertainment industry with TEG Dainty and TEG Live’s Fire Fight Australia relief concert scheduled for February 16, which is set to star British rock legends Queen, among others.

The event, scheduled to take place at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium, will donate all concert ticket profits and all contributions through Ticketek towards key organisations, including the rural and regional fire services in affected states, the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery and the RSPCA Bushfire Appeal.
