Dutch World Cup qualifier becomes largest Fieldlab test event to date

Tickets have gone on sale this morning (Wednesday) for the Netherlands’ FIFA World Cup qualifier against Latvia, which will serve as the country’s biggest test event to date later this month.

The match at Amsterdam’s 55,500-capacity Johan Cruijff ArenA will welcome a maximum of 5,000 fans when it is played on Saturday, March 27. Tickets went on sale to Oranje Club cardholders this morning, with any remaining going on general sale this afternoon.

The Fieldlab Events study will focus on testing policy (rapid testing) and the use of the CoronaCheck App, which will be used to check whether visitors have negative test results. It will be the seventh and largest event held to date by Fieldlab Events, a government-backed initiative which represents the events sector during COVID-19.

In a statement, the Dutch Football Association (KNVB) said: “The study could play a role in speeding up the return of spectators to stadiums and other events in a safe and responsible manner. It could also be important for the closing stages of professional football season.”
