ESNS has opened entries for upcoming artists from across Europe who want to follow the likes of Dua Lipa and Wet Leg by playing at its next festival.

ESNS (Eurosonic Noorderslag), which takes place in Groningen in the Netherlands each January, attracts around 300 artists, who are able to perform in front of fans and 4,000 music industry representatives at a range of venues in the city. Executives from some 400 festivals are present at the event, which was founded in 1986.

Those acts who perform will also become part of the ESNS Exchange, the European Talent Exchange Programme. This was introduced in 2003 to make the ‘exchange’ of European artists across Europe possible on a greater scale than ever before.

ESNS added: “An initiative of ESNS, ESNS Exchange facilitates the bookings of European acts on festivals outside their home countries and generates extensive media exposure for these artists in cooperation with Euroradio, export offices and local media. This way, ESNS Exchange aims to give a boost to the international careers of European artists.”

ESNS has announced Poland as its Focus Country for 2024, so the event and Music Export Poland will target attracting the finest emerging talents from that country.

European acts wishing to play ESNS 2024, which takes place from January 17-20, will be able to submit an online application for a showcase at the festival until September 1.

Acts who have played there and gone on to be successful include Dua Lipa and Wet Leg as well as Altin Gün, girl in red and The Haunted Youth.
