Tickets have gone on sale for the opening round of the revamped and rebranded HSBC SVNS 2024 from World Rugby, which will kick off December 2-3 with the Emirates Dubai 7s.

The Emirates Dubai 7s will take place during the UAE National Day weekend, which will run from December 1-3, 2023.

The 2023 edition of Dubai 7s will feature sport, music and entertainment alongside major hospitality experiences. Ticket prices start from 425 AED (£91/€107/$116).

“It’s an exciting moment as we announce tickets are on sale today for the new look HSBC SVNS with our Emirates Dubai 7s set to kick off the new series in style this December,” said Emirates Dubai 7s festival director, Mathew Tait.

“Along with our history of being the Middle East’s biggest sport and entertainment weekend, we look forward to seeing how the new format shapes up and welcome our fans back to The Sevens Stadium this December.”

Alongside the main sevens tournament, fans will also be able to see sporting action from amateur rugby, netball, cricket and fitness teams across the weekend. Last year’s round saw more than 5,600 participants and 420 teams of all levels competing at The Sevens Stadium.

Four stages including Rugby Rocks, Heineken Tavern, Beats on 2 and Frequency on 8, will welcome performances from international and local artists. British duo DJ Luck & Mc Neat, as well as UK Garage artists Artful Dodger are set to perform, with more headline acts to be announced in the coming weeks.

Family-oriented activations will also be available as well as special viewing locations, food and beverage outlets, and free entry for children under 12.

Hospitality experiences will see fans watching from The Hanger, with two days of VIP treatment, free-flowing food and beverage options, and a view of Pitch 1 from the North Grandstand. Prices start at 1950 AED.

World Rugby rebranded its Sevens World Series as HSBC SVNS in July, with the new-look competition focused on festival-style events and immersive experiences for fans.

The new model will see HSBC SVNS feature seven regular season events and a grand final. The top eight placed teams based on cumulative series points at the end of the regular season will have the opportunity to take part in the Grand Final in Madrid, where both the men’s and the women’s final will happen.

The Spanish capital will also play host to a relegation play-off competition, where teams ranked ninth to 12th will join the top four teams from the World Rugby Sevens Challenger, with the top four securing a place on HSBC SVNS 2025.

“With over 50 years of tradition, the Emirates Dubai 7s has built a strong reputation for spectacular entertainment, on and off the pitch, hosting the world’s best players and teams and creating a fantastic party atmosphere around the venue,” added World Rugby Sevens general manager Sam Pinder.

“We are excited for HSBC SVNS, the supercharged new identity for rugby sevens, to kick off in Dubai bringing together a truly immersive festival of rugby, music, food and experiences to broaden the reach and appeal of the sport beyond its traditional audiences and create the ultimate weekend-long get together.”
