U2’s ‘UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere’ has been extended, with 11 additional dates announced due to unprecedented demand.
Sphere Entertainment Co. And Live Nation revealed that the new dates have been added for January and February next year.
The Irish rock band launched their residency at the 18,600-capacity Sphere in Las Vegas at the end of last month, which saw the first nine shows sell out.
U2’s residency will now run for a total of 36 dates through to February 18, including Super Bowl weekend in the US.
All U2 paid subscribers were eligible to submit a ticket request for the newly added shows, with the pre-sale opening yesterday (Thursday). The pre-sale will close tomorrow (Saturday) with ticket confirmations to be sent out on October 24.
The general onsale will the begin on October 25 via Ticketmaster.
In a bid to minimise extortionate resale prices, general admission floor tickets will be restricted from transfer. Tickets can only be resold at the original purchase price, with fans able to utilise the Ticketmaster Exchange if they are no longer able to attend.
For each performance, some 50 tickets have been made available to experience the show from an exclusive VIP riser, benefitting (RED), the organisation founded by U2 frontman Bono and Bobby Shriver in 2006 to fight AIDS.
“We’re so grateful once again to U2 for their generosity. And we’re very excited that each ‘U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere’ performance will feature an iconic (RED) Zone, which lets fans choose (RED) and save lives while enjoying the show with an excellent view of the stage”, said Jennifer Lotito, president and chief operating officer of (RED). “Over the years, U2’s generosity has delivered nearly $23 million () for (RED)’s fight to end AIDS. Thanks to U2 and U2 fans everywhere for helping (RED) make preventable and treatable disease preventable and treatable for everyone.”
