Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) has announced the launch of the online ticket sales process for Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023, a first for the tournament.

With sales launching tomorrow (Saturday), the hope is to attract football fans from across Africa and further afield. Organisers are also hoping that it means fans will purchase tickets well in advance of the tournament.

The event is scheduled to take place between January 13 – February11 next year, after being postponed from this summer. Ivory Coast’s traditional rainy season in June and July forced the switch, with organisers announcing the decision in 2022.

Cameroon’s hosting of the tournament had also been postponed to 2022 from 2021 following disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Africa Cup of Nations was traditionally held in January and February before CAF moved the event to the summer months for the 2019 version in Egypt.

Sales will take place in phases, with VISA cardholders having exclusive access first before  the general public on November 13.

Matches will be held across Ivorian cities such as Abidjan, Bouake, Korhogo, San Pedro and Yamoussoukro.

Following the successful launch for the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League, a user-friendly platform was developed on the body’s website to create a seamless fan experience.

“Online tickets will enhance ticketing experience for fans of African football and the general public,” said CAF general secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba. “The support from the stakeholders has been great and we are hopeful of meeting the increasing demands of the fans and the general public.”

Some 25% of the tickets for the group stage will available during this phase, with ticket prices ranging from 5,000 FCFA (£7/€7/$8) to 15,000 FCFA.
