TikTok In The Mix, the first live music event from the social media video platform, saw more than 33.5 million viewers enjoy the original broadcast and subsequent rebroadcasts.

The event took place on December 10, and showcased the trending music on TikTok in front of a sold-out crowd of 17,000 at Sloan Park in Mesa, Arizona. The event broke the record for the biggest ever live event on TikTok, with 9.6 million tuning into the show live.

“In The Mix was an awe inspiring event where fans and artists came together to celebrate what we love about TikTok, where the power of the platform’s music discovery played out on stage,” said Paul Hourican, global head of music partnerships and programming at TikTok.

“An event of this magnitude truly takes a village, so thank you to the amazing line-up of incredible artists, our partners, the sold out crowd in Arizona, and the record breaking audience who watched around the world in their millions on TikTok.”

TikTok In The Mix was announced in October, and was headlined by the likes of Cardi B, Niall Horan, Anitta, Charlie Puth, Offset and Pesmo Pluma.

There were also performances from Reneé Rapp, as well as up-and-coming artists from TikTok’s Elevate programme, Isabel LaRosa, Kaliii, LU KALA and Sam Barber.

TikTok revealed earlier this month that it had expanded its partnership with Ticketmaster to more than 20 new markets.

A new feature sees music fans able to discover and purchase tickets for events through Ticketmaster directly within the TikTok platform. The in-app feature means artists are able to promote their live dates to new and existing fans on TikTok, by including a link to tickets on their videos before posting.

Following the successful beta testing of the new feature in the US last year, the partnership was extended to other countries including the UK, Ireland, Germany, Australia, Switzerland, Spain and more.
