CTS Eventim has secured two contracts for the next men’s and women’s IHF Handball World Championships, with the deals covering 164 matches and more than 1.3 million tickets.

Additionally, the provider of ticketing services and live entertainment has signed an extension with the German Handball Federation (DHB). The long-term partnership will see CTS Eventim cover all home matches of the DHB’s national teams.

The 30th edition of the IHF Men’s World Championship will be held in 2027, with the International Handball Federation (IHF) having awarded the event to Germany in February 2020. The tournament is expected to take place from January 14 to 31, 2027, and will feature 112 matches between 32 teams for roughly one million fans to enjoy.

Germany and the Netherlands will share the staging of the 27th IHF Women’s World Championship, which is scheduled to take place from November 27 to December 14, 2025. A total of 350,000 tickets will be made available for the 52 matches, which are due to take place at venues such as Porsche Arena in Stuttgart, the Arena Trier and Westfalenhalle in Dortmund. Pre-sales are expected to start in the autumn of this year.

“Ticketing is essential to the economic success of our major events,” said Mark Schober, chief executive of the DHB. “Eventim proved that its impressive sales power, vast expertise and state-of-the-art technology could fill venues for the 2019 World Championship. After a thorough evaluation stage, we’re delighted that Eventim will again be at our side as a reliable partner for the upcoming tournaments and international matches.”

CTS Eventim was awarded the two handball contracts following a thorough bidding process.

Alexander Ruoff, chief operating officer, CTS Eventim, added: “We’re extremely happy to be continuing our close partnership with the DHB. Winning a contract from the world’s largest handball association reflects our successful work in the sports segment, which includes the Olympic Games and multiple world and European championships across a variety of disciplines. First-class ticketing is a major part of the fan experience and adds to the magic of live sport.”
